Invented in the mid-19th century, stippling is the art of creating images using millions of individual ink dots. The technique of varying the size and density of dots to simulate shape and depth, combined with the human eye’s ability to intuitively complete images, results in astoundingly realistic portraits and illustrations.
This incredible original work titled “Bird of Prey” (20″x21″) was created by stippling artist Douglas Barnes using an estimated 4 million dots. 200 limited edition prints have been produced, each signed and labeled for authenticity.
