Read a lot of the reviews for this place on here and was a little skeptical but I saw they were having a pedicure special for $25 so I decided to give it a whirl. At first glance this place is clean , it doesn't seem very busy at all , in the hour I was there only 2 people came in. As I walked in I was greeted very nicely by the two women who were working that day. I asked if they had time to schedule me in for a pedicure they told me yes and to pick a color from the wall, they have quite a large variety of colors to choose from so I was quite pleased. Again , the place wasn't very busy so after picking my color I was seated right away with tub filled up and ready to go. The lady who did my nails was fast but my nails were well done. Overall I was quite pleased with this place and I'll probably be going back.
Worst nail salon I've ever been to in the 16 years Of wearing nails. I'm 28 and my mother who is 49 came along with me to get our nails done. The manager who did the shellac on my nails did a horrible job, not even applying enough polish.. Cracked off within days.. And an acrylic toe nail I had her put on to cover my broken toe nail, she just slapped on a blob of acrylic.. Didn't even prep the toe nail at all beforehand or drill and fill it into a shape. It fell of within days anyway. Not only was she a crappy nail technician; she was rude, unfriendly and extremely unprofessional. Don't go here, there's plenty of other salons around. ZERO STARS
Waited over half an hour to get serviced. I only wanted to get my extensions removed. No manicure or anything. They then sat me down and made me soak my nails in a bowl of acetone and quickly left to work on another client. 10 minutes later with my hand still in the acetone with no "technician" to be seen, I took my hand out to witness my skin completely ruined by the alcohol. I told them this is not the way to remove them - they had to be buff off. Another "technician" came and told me I had to put my nails back in or they can't remove my extensions??? I ended up doing that as I did not want to quarrel with them as there was already a fight with another client while I was waiting. Essentially, they forced me to soak my nails in a bowl of acetone for an hour until they finished with other clients. After their customers left they finally realized my extensions cannot be removed by acetone even though I stated that at the very beginning. They made no apologies and told me to get my nails done cheaper next time so it can be soaked off instead. Oh and to conclude they overcharged me :) $21 dollars to sit in acetone for one hour. Hygiene is another issue but I'm not going to get into it because you would already know if you stepped foot in the salon. I beg you to just go elsewhere.
I came here with my friend and waited for her as she got a Shellac polish change. The service here was TERRIBLE. The nail technician cut my friend's cuticles and by the end, her fingers were all bloody. The polish was applied without any care and can be seen on her skin around the nails. They were extremely rude and didn't offer to give her a discount. Don't waste your time and money coming here. The service is horrible and the finished result was atrocious. There are FAR better nail salons in Richmond than this place.
I dropped in with my daughter and asked if they could fit us in. They said they could and started removing the shellac from my fingers and toes. My daughter who is 4 just wanted polish on her finger nails. While the woman was doing my pedicure a couple of people dropped in, they were also told they could be fit in. Another 2 women came in and said that they had an appointment. So now the woman is giving me the fastest and most painful pedicure of my life (literally lasted 10 minutes with shellac). And she started on my manicure, which was really just a polish change with how fast she was going. Meanwhile the young woman had done my daughter's nails and just got up and started working on someone else (no fan to dry). Both the elder and younger women continually snapped at my daughter to not move. As expected my daughter's nails were messed up within minutes, I then had to ask for them to fix the nails and use a fan to help dry. They waited until my nails were done and then re painted her nails. While I was waiting for my daughter's nails to dry, I watched the same marathon pedicurist giving a woman an amazing massage with lotion. I felt like it was unfair because I was paying for the same service but didn't get it for feet or hands. When it came time to pay, I asked the young woman if I got a discount because I didn't recieve the full service. I was told that I would have to pay full price. I asked why and she didn't answer I then told her that if they didn't have time to fit me in they should have let me know. The woman then told me to wait and answered the phone. I walked out I have uneven nails with shellac all over my skin. I would never go back, I worked in the service industry for years and this was some of the worst treatment I have ever received.
I would give negative 10 stars if I could to be honest. No one should be coming here. Im trying to Google where I can complain about their sanitary conditions still. I had an emergency pedi that I wanted to get done so I called this place (my frd recommended a long time ago) to see if they have any space for drop in, they said they did so I went. Everything initially went pretty smoothly, small salon ran by a Vietnamese family in the same plaza as pricesmart in Richmond. Pedi was alright, I upgraded to shellac while I was there and everything went fine. The lady asked me where I normally do my nails and I told her and she said they charge quit a bit and asked if I wanted to do my nails there and I said yes, since I have a wedding coming up so might as well. It all went downhill from here. She got a younger lady to do my hands... it was a nightmare. She was really rough and decided to make 4 out of my 10 fingers bleed. Not only did she use a file and cut the side of my nail into my flesh, she snipped a piece of my flesh off my cuticle. There is a hole there now, yes a hole. She wasn't very apologetic and just said "oh sorry". My finger was bleeding constantly......she ended up trying to stop the bleeding before she continued. I was so shocked as this has never happened to me before. So after she was done and right before I left, I used their sink and realized all they do is RINSE their tools and left it in a basket to dry. How unsanitary is that!? Now I just really hope I haven't caught anything since 4 of my fingers were cut and bleeding... this salon really needs to stop their practice until they rectify these issues.
I've been here once and will never return again, I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. The only reason I stopped by was because the places I usually get my nails done (starlit/trix) were super busy and I had no time to wait around. But I can honestly say it's the worst nail salon I've ever been to in all of Richmond because of the awful service. When I initially walked in, the little salon was cute. The towels were sanitized, there was a TV, tools were clean, things looked pretty tidy, and the place itself was pretty neat. So as far as hygiene, it was pretty well kept. Seconds after, a lady greeted me and asked me the type service I wanted so I told her I wanted gel nails (UV gel nails, not stupid acrylics with a gel coat) and she looked at me all weird and got super inquisitive, as if I wasn't clear enough with what I wanted when I pointed to the lady getting the exact service I wanted. She then threw the colour selection onto the little table to the side and motioned me over. After having waited about 20 minutes, I was finally approached by one of the workers, and upon sitting down, she literally started talking shit about the service I wanted (coffin shaped, coral gel nails, with a gold accent nail on my ring fingers) Like I get it, they aren't the most basic nails but I didn't think it'd be too much of a problem, but apparently they were. She proceeded to tell me off as if I had never gotten my nails done before, telling me gel was dumb and bad for you, so she completely disregarded what I asked for. I kept telling her to just stick with what I told her to do, since I was the customer after all, you know? But no, although she did stay true to my colour selection, she did exactly what I DID NOT WANT and gave me stubby acrylic nails with a gel coat on top. Ffs. Unfortunately that wasn't all in regards to awful service. Halfway through my own service, someone with an appointment walked in and my lady started panicking. The lady with the appointment waited around for 40 minutes, so I felt really bad although it wasn't my fault. It was the lady who, being as unorganized as she was, obviously forgot about it or couldn't work within her time frame. Because of this, she started frantically rushing on my nails resulting in the crappiest excuse for (acrylic) gel nails I've ever seen. They were sloppy (the gel got set on my skin) and the colour was so uneven I couldn't even believe it when she told me she was done. She also constantly told ME to hurry up, like excuse me? You're the one doing my nails, woman (and charging me $52.) I shouldn't have been the one penalized with subpar nails because this lady was unorganized and stubborn. As cute as the salon is, the service is by far the most terrible service I've seen in a while. You couldn't bribe me with enough money to come back and I definitely DO NOT recommend this place to ANYONE, no matter how desperate you are to get your nails done.
I really wanted to get a pedicure done so I decided to Sakura Nails & Spa because of the $25 banner they had hanging outside of their store. They have a variety of colours to choose from and very comfortable spa chairs. The environment was alright. Definitely not an upscale spa. I paid $38 for a shellac pedicure. The lady who did my pedicure did a decent job. This was my first time getting a shellac pedicure and she told me it would last 2 months. I didn't believe her. While doing my feet she was more worried about her son's dinner. Half way through she decided to call for take out and started to order food. Definitely made me say wtf. Over all, I would not come back.
I've been here twice, once for a manicure and my most recent - a pedicure. They did an ok job both times but the filing just makes me so mad! I like everything even and symmetrical so it bothers me if one finger nail is a bit rounded and that same finger on the other hand is a bit more squared. I told the girl doing my nails this and she didn't do anything about it. Something annoying that they do is they keep asking you if you want to upgrade to shellac (which I did). They just pester you and the other people working join in as well, so I caved in. The girl working on me was also quite impatient, making ME feel like I was unwanted. Overall, the place is okay but unsanitary. Probably not going here again.
I got my pedicure and manicure with french tip on both. came to $35 tax and tip! They are doing a promo till June 30th 2011! amazing deal! I have gone everywhere to get waxed and this place you have to see Irene. Clean room, and no double dipping! They dont use the same stick when they are doing private areas. No where in Richmond does this. Highly recommend this place. They price will go back up after 1 month! I will still go back there to see them. Very clean place, big tv and very nice interior. Check it out!
There are like 4 new nail places opened up in Richmond downtown in the last 2 months, and this new nail place is doing 40% off opening promotion, so I had a pedicure done. The only good thing about this new nail place is that it guarantees good new nail polishes. First sign of bad service- they overbooked; though I made an appointment, I waited for over 30 minutes. I could have left but I couldn't cause my feet were soaked in the water already- smart business. The skill of my esthetician was poor; she was rough, I had to ask her to clean/ wipe my cuticles, so that there is no nail polish on cuticles- this is usually done automatically by an experienced esthetician. She also did not smooth out edges of my toe nails- she just cut them flat. When I asked her to smooth them out, she was not happy, spoke something in Vietnamese, and then asked her co-worker to take over. This so-worker was so careless, she messed up one of my big toe nails' polish, and even worse, she tried to do 'touch-up' instead of painting it again!! I could not believe it. I'd to tell her to please repaint. The staff is also very pushy, she asked me 3 times to upgrade to different nail service; I'd to tell her I'd no time because they delayed my service! This is one of the worse one I'd been to, no customer service at all, I would not go back.
came here to remove my set of gel nails and get a regular mani. the lady kept trying to persuade me to get shellac. it's good i know, yet it's not that cheap here. and i told her a want a quick break from gel. the only thing im really disappointed is that the opi nail polish i chose is a dark fushia colour....yet when the lady put it on...she made it extremely sheer, blotchy, bubbly and thin. sigh...and she kinda screwed up my right thumbnail...it's not filed properly...even when i told her to file it a bit more. yes, it's a rush job. there were two other clients waiting for her. i couldn't stand it...i pretty much repainted my nails when i got home. free but with better results...really..i expect a nail salon technician to do professional and expert jobs. not something that i can do a even better job. as for tools...they reuse them...not sure how often they keep it sanitized. not recommended and not coming back. will find keep looking.
Having been a customer here for quite some time, I expect consistency and respect. I'm sad to say that last week was the last time this place will see a dime from me. They've seriously hired some questionable people. I had this new girl do my nails. I walked out of there with nails that belong on a 10 year old. Bright, flashy and just awful. The manicure itself sucked too as she made me bleed and my tips are rough (snagged my shirt!). I complained and the owner then starting saying stuff to her in vietnamese. As we left, she didn't bother to say thank you or even turn around from behind the desk to say bye. Disappointed!
Went there on the weekend. Walked in and asked if anyone was available to do a pedi. Yes of course, they had me choose a colour and got my feet soaking. 40 minutes later I was still soaking!! Finally the girl came over, got her station set up, took my feet out of the water to start....then a woman who I am assuming was a friend (I couldn't understand what they were saying but they were very friendly to each other) walked in and she bumped me. She literally got up and started the other lady. I asked what was going on and they said she had an appointment......if that was true then why did she start my pedi? I got up and walked out to a new place across the street next to Tokyo Joe's called Trix.
I had my pedicure n gel nails done at Sakura Nail Salon last week, I am loving it. Clean place, friendly people, good service, nice work done, highly recommended. They are having a 40% off promotion until end of June, can't miss that out. Irene, my nail stylist, much thanks to her for staying late on a Sunday night to do my nails. Nice chatting with her too. For sure I am going back next time.
